But first tap with a taper or plug tap. You need to have the tapered
unfinished threads in the hole before finishing with the bottoming tap.
A plug tap probably will get threads enough to be a bit tight on the set
screw but not so tight to prevent it holding on the shaft.

Kerosine is as good a cutting oil as any fancy commercial cutting oil
for aluminum, the door handle could easily be die cast zinc or alloy.
