[VAC] Re: EMERGENCY Advice Needed

The only trouble with adjusting brakes with a screwdriver in some
situations is that the handle ends up against suspension parts (most
likely on a front brake) where one's knuckles keep impacting those
suspension parts to the detriment of the knuckles. There the bend in the
tool pays great dividends.

When the drums are very worn, a lot of jiggling and shaking after the
shoes have been withdrawn as far as possible is appropriate. Sometimes a
sturdy heave can peel shoes and drum off together, but is damaging to
the hold down spring parts. They are commonly available.
