I had
a very similar problem. I used Rit Dye color remover. I even risked
cleaning the drapes in hot water. Mine were backed with a plastic like
material. They didn't seem to shrink at all, and the remover got out most
of the rust stains. Be sure to use the right amount of the color
remover. I only used one box on the first load and they didn't come out as
well as when I used two boxes per load.
