I'm pretty sure that these 12v and 110v systems ran side-by-side,
terminating separately at these outlets/fixtures, as you described the
lighting in your Streamline.

Although my '48 Trailwind was (originally) wired for 110v/ac only (except
for the marker and  single tail-light), I found a very peculiar (later
addition?) outlet which i believe was on a circuit with the small 12v air
compressor which pressurized the water tank (another later addition)... this
appeared to be a regular dual (ungrounded) outlet, but rather than being a
regular recepticle w/cover plate, it is a single piece of plastic with the
wire terminals/contacts mounted on the back side, at the plug openings. I've
never seen anything like it. It's the typical beige color, and seems to be
made of the usual polystyrene or whatever...have you ever seen one of these?

I do remember looking at a '50's Airstream many years ago, which had
dual-voltage fixtures, but didn't pay much attention to them, other than to
remark to the owner that it seemed like a sure way to fry one's 12v
appliances if one forgot to switch the system over when hooking up to shore
power...
