[VAC] AC/DC confusion

I think the confusion might stem from the fact that some earlier ('50's)
airstreams delivered both 110v/AC and 12v/DC current to the same outlets and
fixtures, depending on whether the trailer was operating in 12v (off the
battery) or 110v ('shore power') mode...

The term 'shore power' is borrowed from boating terminology, where a boat
would be plugged in to an AC circuit on shore (dock, marina slip).
