It might be helpful to scratch through the glazed surface with coarse
sand paper. Not to get down to the aluminum, just to crack the cured
surface of the Krylon lacquer to let the lacquer thinner get in. Its
still a solvent based coating, not one that polymerizes like tung oil or
linseed oil paints.
