Melanie,
The '64 Globetrotter, if original, should have an older model of the
"Uni-volt".  The Uni-volt is the control box with the switches and the
big transformer hooked up to it inside the external access door.  Your
manual has a whole section devoted to it.  If Iowa Boys didn't give you
the manual, the VAC will be putting copies on-line soon.

It is what  converts shore power 110vac to 12vdc for the lights & 18vac
for the fans, or regulates the 12vdc from the battery to the lights &
fans if you are not hooked up to 110v.  The early '60's Airstreams with
Uni-volts were the first to convert away dual 110/12 volt bulb lighting
and go with all 12volt  "marine" bulbs.
