My '66 Safari has a Thetford Model 1400 porcelain toilet which I assume to be the original. It was mounted on a metal flange which raises it some 8" to 10" off the floor of the trunk compartment so that the upper edge of the bowl should fit flush against the underside of the fiberglass tub, lavatory, toilet enclosure. The bowl and seat are all intact but the flush mechanism is rusty and may or may not work properly. I have not applied water pressure yet as I removed the entire assembly from the trailer to repair the trunk floor, holding tank, plumbing, etc. I would like to overhaul the flush mechanism before I put it back together and reinstall it in the trailer. Can anyone tell me: 1) Is this the original '66 Safari toilet? 2) Are the overhaul seals, gaskets, and other small wear parts available? 3) If so, where or from whom? 4) What other alternatives do I have if the parts are not available? I hope the answer is not to purchase a new cheap plastic appliance to replace this nearly bullet proof lifetime toilet. All information and advice will be welcomed.
