[VAC] Re: [Fwd: Help I need some info]
Reply to: RE: [VAC] Help I need some info
We have towed our 17' Caravel all over the western US now with a '96 1/2
ton 6cyl Ford SWB pickup.
Here's my thoughts:
• 17'/18' is about the max length for the 6 cyl in terms of power.
• If it had a V8, I feel the limit would be a 19' Globetrotter limited
by the truck weight & wheelbase. A half-ton Suburban is longer and a
little heavier, so as long as the total weight of the Burb & trailer
doesn't exceed the GVWR, it should be able to handle a 22'-23'
Safari/Flying Cloud/Caravanner and smaller. All should fall below the
5000' max trailer weight and hitch weight of the Burb Lite if packed
"normally".
• With a 19' & above I would get a loadleveling hitch, and add sway
limiting on a 21' & larger.
As usual, there are many variables that can't be covered in a short
response like this. Take it all in and make your decision based on
common sense and your towing comfort level.
Best of luck,
RJ
