Re: [VAC] hello... (long)

As everyone has said that you need to get a vehicle that is over powered because if you think about it in order to get any where from Burbank you need to tackle large grades.(5,10,14,15,101,) .    That is why I traded in my F150 for a F-250 Super Duty with the v-10 motor It also has 4 wheel disk brakes.  The F-150 would do the job but you will be slow on the grades and trips are long enough without adding time climbing hills also the brakes are not up to the standard of the higher rated vehicles.  Trust my you drive long enough that you will end up testing the stopping power of your tow rig know matter how careful you are you just can't control the other persons on the road with you.  Remember that you are doing this for fun and adventures but you don't want to risk you and your family's life to save a little gas.  My V-10 gets 15 mpg unloaded and 10.1 hauling my 28 ft. Airstream.  The smaller vehicles that you are considering will almost run you the same gas mileage because you will have to drive with the accelerator to the floor most of the time.  The winds are also a concern  living in So. Ca. crossing the deserts and the passes you will need the extra power and weight to get through the winds.  The larger vehicles will allow you to arrive at your destination more relaxed.  Remember this is fun!  Not nerve racking.  Sorry for rambling on but this a important choice to make. Just as important as the trailer purchase.  A lot of people that live in So. Ca. don't realize how steep the grades are that we are surrounded by.
