Thanks for your help, however the lock on my unit has a handle (not a knob) on
the outside with "Airstream" cast into the handle and a simple  handle on the
inside.  You may be right in saying it is a modified Bargman, the size and
shape of the housing seem similar to modern Bargman locks.  However, the inside
of the casting says "Chesler".  It is too cool an artifact to discard, and it
works fine, except that it does not lock.
