Re: [VAC] Flat tires

Hi, Nick:

We had a flat tire last year on our 1972 single-axle Safari. We
did not have skid bars, but that wasn't a problem, as the core of the tire
hels. However, the tread came off and really gave the wheel well outer
lining a beating. We had it fixed back at Jackson Center, later in the year.
The really scary part of the flat is the suddenness with which the
tire came apart, and the passing vehicles while we fixed it. We had
a wide shoulder where it happened, but many, many, cars, RVs, and semis
came right on by in the right-hand lane, although I had markers out. The
jacked-up trailer really swayed when they did that. I discovered that if I
gave oncoming traffic a "thumbs-up" as an advance thanks for moving over,
the semis did so (most of them), but few RVs or autos did.
