[VAC] interior vinyl coating removal

Bought a 71 Tradewind a while back with damaged
interior skin (just the coating).
What can I use to strip the remainder of the
paint/vinyl coating stuff to get it down to the base
aluminum?
I tried everything from mineral spirits up to
Strip-Eze.
None seemed to make it easy enough to get the stuff
off without sanding.  
Does anyone know how this is done in the proffesional
arena?
