Re: [VAC] Flat tires

I've had two flats on a 19 foot single axle (at different times). The first
was a blow out from a piece of metal in the road. At 50 mph the tire
peeling did damage to the wheel well but I was able to control it and limp
to the side of the road. The second time tire lug nuts let go causing the
tire to come off, dropping the trailer at about 45 mph, but with no more
damage. Very difficult to jack the trailer up and required help getting it
lifted so the spare could be put on. No matter whether you have a tandem
or triple, if you have a blow-out, in most instances you are going to damage
the body of the trailer. My in-laws had just picked up their brand-new
Excella and had gone a short distance when one of their tires failed and
shredded, tearing apart the wheel well and the outer skin above the wheel
well. Make sure you have a good jack just in case. And join a good travel
club that will also take care of trailers! Ralph Calistro
