Hello,
I am in the process of stripping the clearcoat off and found that the 
stripper works great on the old silicon. Do use this method if it is near 
anything plastic or rubber or has a coating you want to keep. I have tried 
other things such as Goo Gone and paint thinner but this is much faster.
