Re: [VAC] Refrigerator Venting

Ed,

I installed a newer model refrigerator in my '65 Caravel. I used the original
venting system with a non louvered original door, screened hole at the bottom,
etc. This produces a "chimney" effect as cooler air is sucked in the bottom,
gets heated by the refrigerator coils and rises out the top vent.

To speed the process along I installed one of the small fans which mount near the
refrigerator coils and provide an extra updraft. The one I bought came in a kit
with a small solar collector which I mounted right on top of the refrigerator
vent, running the power cord up the vent. It was easy to install and the fan
comes on when it is hot and sunny. I noticed improvement in refrigerator
function although I did not perform temperature measurements with and without
fan. I bought my fan kit from Camping World.

In summary, my refrigerator was working ok before and works better now.
