Big Al writes about his 1960 Pacer.  16 1/2 feet from bumper to ball.
Serial # SS0382,......Santa fe Springs, 0 is for 1960, and 382 is the
production sequence number.  The Pacer was introduced in 1958 as a 17 ft
model, then in 1960, it became a 16 ft model.  Sometimes Airstream would
classify a model to the nearest length in feet.  It appears in 1958,
this 16 1/2 ft model was called a 17 footer, then in 1960, it was called
a 16 footer.  Stranger things have happened.  The Flying Cloud , for
example was called a 21 ft model in odd years, and a 22 ft model in even
