Re: [VAC] A new trailer
Yes, the Service Bulletin 29 from Airstream is applicable to /74 models.
However, not every unit built with rear baths had a sag problem. Not
sure why but might have a lot to do with how much it traveled and how
often with a full grey water tanks located at rear. However, if you don't
have a problem don't worry until you do. For a test grab the rear bumper
and lift up. If the bumper moves and the trailer doesn't it is probabale
you have the start of a problem.
There is a second problem with the '68 thru '72 models which was
separation of trailer shell from the chassis. It looks like sag but is
not as bad. For whatever reason the rear of the body of the trailer
(shell) separates from the frame, probably due to rust of bolts, etc..
forming the connection. This can be fixed and Airstream Service
Bulletin Number 1 gives the details of the fix.
