     Ever try Lumirod?    It looks like a welding rod and you use a propane 
torch since you don't need a lot of heat.  With some practice, you can flow 
it on and then sand it down.  Will still show a scar I'm sure, but it may 
look better to you.  I used it to weld my window frames back together and it
