Re: [VAC] Riveting Info

Elisa,
Most restoration and repair riveting uses blind Olympic rivets. See
this website for info & pictures of tooling, the rivets & installation.

http://rivetsplus.com/new.asp

Small rivets used internally are of the "pop" variety, and can be
purchased from hardware stores or Rivets Plus, etc.

They all can be installed with a standard "pop" rivet puller available
everywhere (get a good expensive one - you buy cheap tools many times,
but good tools only once).

If you get into replacing skin panels, then rivet guns, bucking bars &
loud noise is the name of the game. Best way to learn more about that
is the myriad of books available at the library on aircraft sheetmetal
repair & fabrication - and then lots of practice....

There is a lot of previous discussion on this subject in the VAC list,
check Tom Patterson's archives.
