Looked out the window and the Streamline is right where I put it a few weeks ago. I can see again (phew) and I'm back to work, however now there is a flyer circulating on the cutback to 16 from 29 employees by September of next year. (contracting out the work being done by the 13 positions being eliminated). Between January and 1 Oct. 2001 my position will be gone, I'll either move down, be laid off or bought out.( my eligable first oportunity (sp) to retire is March 2002.) I'm 4th senior there, but excellent evals can add up to 12 years onto your seniority above your physical time, for the case of reducing the personnel, but not for retirement.Told them they could "give" me or let me "buy" 6 months next September and I'd take it and run! But the "knives" are starting to be thrown, you gotta keep your back to the wall...So I guess the project is slowed down even further as the "bills" have priority..Wife wonders if I'll ever bring anything home that doesn't need work before it can be used. Haven't in the 25 years we've been married, why start now? Maybe tomorrow I can do some scrubbing. Been getting down to the low 20's here the past 5 nights, up to 45.
