Yes. The gray water drains only sink, shower and lavatory. The black is toilet only. The black should be closed until you have to drain the tank. You may want to replace the handle. if you travel, you will have to seal off the system. Do you have a cap that closes off the drain system for travel? If you are camping self contained, it will be impossible to allow the gray water tank to operate as intended if you cannot close the valve.
