Waste System

I have a 74 30ft Streamline Imperial. I am not sure about the sewer system. I have it connected and the valve pulled open. However, I am unsure as to whether it is emptying properly. Is there something I am failing to do? I thought as long as the valve was open it would empty ALL the contents.
