Chris,

It will depend on how much sun your area gets. I live in Arizona and our sun
here is quite potent. So 1 charger works well. Say if I lived in Oregon, where
the sun is not as potent, it might require 2 or 3 units to get the same
charge.

I set my panel in the window channel and it works great. we pull the curtains
closed to protect the interior from the sun though.

I use 1 in my Dodge, which is my tow vehicle for our SS and our boat and does
not get a lot of use, to keep the battery up in it as well.

We have used both units together with a deep cycle battery to power a "boom
box" radio while camping. The charge during the day time powers during the day
and lasts well into the night. Quite useful little devices.

Thanks, Bill, for your idea of the solar charger as an alternative to a
shut
off switch for the batteries. We have a Harbor Freight store in the area
and
I think I'll go check it out. Is that all you have to do, that is, plug it
in
to one of the cigarette type 12 volt plug ins? (and of course make sure it
faces the sun). That would be great. As it is now I keep it disconnected
to
  avoid draining the batteries.
    chris
