According to this mornings edition of The Houston Chronicle, Bob passed away on June 13th, 2004. Funeral services will be held in Conroe, Texas on June 17th, 2004. Those of us who met Bob know of his knowledge and enthusiam for Silver Streak trailers. He had bought, restored, and resold well over 100 of these units over the past 10 years. His knowledge and helpfulness will be greatly missed. - -Tom ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 20:32:10 EDT From: Jotatwcd@xxxxxxxxxx.com Subject: [SilverStreak] Re:The passing of Bob Ashby.... Tom - Thank you so much for the update. This news saddens me as I had the most wonderful visit with Bob, Wanda and you on April 5th 2004 at Bob's home in Conroe. It makes me feel very thankful that I had that wonderful visit now! I did write Bob and Wanda upon my return home and sent them a photo that I took of them together in front of my Silver Streak. That will be a priceless treasure for me now as I viewed Bob as a true mentor. He was such a generous man. He gave me a vent cover in anodized gold for my refrigerator compartment that I promptly installed when I returned home to Denver. He would not hear of taking anything for it but simply said that it would make my trailer "shine just a little more." I took every piece of Bob's advice for detailing my trailer per his specifications and advised him that I had completed those items when I returned with great results. Bob and I had several conversations over the phone through the last year and he provided so much information about Silver Streak and its history. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten by those who knew him. I know that Bob helped many of us make our trailers "shine just a little more." Sincerely and with great respect, James O.
