Also check the stem glands on any valves such as the water closet supply service valve (called "shut off valve" below). Often all that is needed to stop a leak around the stem is to slightly tighten the gland nut. Don't overdo the tightening. A little will do, just enough to stop a weep, then just a tweak. The shower lines also connect in the wall behind the lavatory. Another culprit would be the sprayer that is attached on the wall behind the toilet. These will sometimes leak. Note that you should have a shut off valve on the floor near the back left for this line if it is at fault. > > James ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Apr 2004 10:11:43 -0600 From: waymark1@xxxxxxxxxx.com Subject: Re: [SilverStreak] changing out the water tank Why does a stainless tank ever leak? I did have a glass lined tank that leaked on a Streamline once. It was in an area where the water fill connects from the top to the exterior of the trailer and the bouncing from travel caused stress on the weld. I have a stainless on my SS and will probably never need to change it. It is converted to demand. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Apr 2004 17:46:28 EST From: Jotatwcd@xxxxxxxxxx.com Subject: Re: [SilverStreak] a leak!! If the trailer is stored in a dry climate, you also may want to consider purchasing a small package of "packing" at Ace hardware or somewhere. Unscrew the top of the valve and cut a small piece of this string like substance that will wrap around its base and then replace the valve. This works great for pennies. You can also replace the screw and seal inside while you are at it if it is dried out and the screw has become rusty.
