Hey all,

I'm a recently proud purchaser of a 1973 30 foot Continental Supreme (diamond
tuck crushed orange velvet and all). I want to switch out the old stainless
pressure tank to a newer style plastic tank with an on-demand pump. Any
problems I should look forward to?

Thanks

Alan Spivey

If there's nothing wrong with the stainless tank, it can be used with a
demand pump. Just splice the new demand pump into the water line that
comes out of the bottom of the tank. There will have to be a vent
established. The old air line from the compressor can be rerouted up well
above the height of the filler pipe on the side of the trailer. Or, the
air line connection to the top of the tank can be plugged and the rubber
seal on the outside filler cap gapped to let air past it.

I wrote stainless, but I just meant steel. when I filled the tank to flush
it the water came out rusty colored. My mom had an air stream of the same
vintage and she said the steel tank made the water taste fully, so I'm going
with the plastic tank.

Alan, if there's any way you can salvage the stainless tank I would do so.
I've had both over time and too me the plastic tanks ALWAYS taste bad. You
can use a pump with your tank. You might try to flush and drain it a few
times to see if you can get rid of the rust. my 77 has a stainless tank
under the bed. Unless the previous owners changed out the stainless to a
plain steel tank yours should be stainless too. Carl Rodgers

Once your stainless tank springs a leak, you can find a square tank approx 40
gallon and convert to demand. I had this done several years ago for about
$300. It simplies things for you especially if you have pressurized.
