I have not tried it as I have never had any problem with my 26 yo SS. They are very simple and are dependable except they get coated with holding tank yuck and no longer conduct. They really just make an electrical contact through the liquid to the ground probe or the lowest probe on the tank. They do sometimes start leaking and can be difficult to remove once they have been there for some time. If they arent leaking and also not working you can use holding tank probe cleaner which works with some probes and not so good on any that I own. Installing new ones leaving the old ones is sometimes the best bet. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Aug 2005 21:32:10 -0700 (PDT) From: C D Harper <cdharperao@xxxxxxxxxx.com> Subject: [SilverStreak] 1967 Silver Streak Sabre for sale/have pictures now Wow this summer has been hectic. I got moved and have the 1967 SS Sabre moved here also. Have not got it emptied out completely yet or cleaned up totally. I have worked 7 days a week since June 6th up to yesterday. Finally a couple days off. I did take some pictures of it this afternoon that I can email. About 30 in all. Showing most of the interior and exterior. Here are the particulars; 1967 Silver Streak Sabre 23ft. The secretary of the Southern California Silver Streak Club formerly owned this coach. It was in attendance at the 1979 and 1980 National Silver Streak Rallies. 1979 rally plaque is still on the coach, the other is missing. It has two original Silver Streak Club Stickers (diamond shaped) on the left rear corner. One covers the other. Also remaining on the coach is the original owners Good Sam Number. It also has one original Sabre plastic nameplate on the rear, but it is warped. It has both SS nameplates front and rear. It is the model with the bustle in the rear and it is full of misc. plumbing fixtures (Original larger white connections/black pipe black water connections, etc.) Coach is in excellent condition. The floors are still in great shape. Needing just a couple floor tile replaced or reglued. There is a small, (2 inch in length by 1 inch,)rain water seeped in down the tv coax until I caught it) water damage area on the veneer under one cupboard door over one bed that can be easily repaired by someone with woodworking/veneer ability. One window over the curbside bed has been replaced with a solid window. A couple window winders need replaced. One pane of glass in the right front jalocy (sic) window needs replaced due to stupidity of the previous owner. Catalytic heater needs the plastic tubing replaced to work. It is a CAT and all litature comes with coach. There is a man in Oregon that rebuild the CAT units. Basically that is the only TLC issues. All relative small things and not causing the coach to be unusable. It does need to be cleaned inside and out. I will clean the interior as soon as I can get the stuff out of it. The Fridge works on propane and may need just an electric element to work on electricity. It worked, then didnt, after I moved it the last time. Same with the hot water heater, it works great on propane, but the electric side stopped on the last move also. Fridge will freeze a gallon of milk solid over night on 8 setting. I use 6 or below. I like my milk cold enough to have ice crystals floating in the milk so that is fine by me. Coach has a 25-gallon stainless steel water tank under the right side (road side) bed. Beds come with original Silver Streak mattresses and box springs made especially for SS. Interior is the original varnished wood (Oak) and is in excellent shape. There is an original Coleman gaslight over the table in the breakfast nook. Table is high-low (for use as a bed). Cushions need cleaning and possibly reshaped? Original Magic Chef has a 4-burner top, and an oven. All work perfectly. There is a microwave included. Sink has the original waterspout and the hot and cold spout from the hose (water connection). The original water filter will work and there is an extra filter. Bath is on the right rear and is the original shower and tub combo new fixture in shower, original fixture in sink. Black water tank is in excellent condition. Stool could be replaced. It works, but the bowl is stained from cleaner. Lots of storage. Interior ceiling aluminum has been painted white and could stand a good scrubbing or repainting. Original top vents. Coleman Roof AC works. There is a solar electric charger for the onboard battery, but I do not know if it works, as I have never had to use the battery. Coach has the original travel covers for the curved corner windows. Entry door hinges are in great shape (this is a cause for worry in newer SS trailers as the aluminum hinges break easily. One screen door latch is broken. There are a few minor dings on the exterior but nothing earth shattering. Both 7 = gallon propane tanks have been upgraded to the new valves. Tires seem to be fine. Bearings probably need to be repacked before a long trip. That done you can haul this coach anywhere. This coach pulls like a dream. I pulled it with my 1994 Dodge > ton 4X4 and didnt even know it was back there, same with my 1972 Lincoln Mark IV. The coach comes with a lot of original information on the coach and the build card. And original guarantee. There is no owners manual, but lots of info for everything in the coach. Coach also comes with a DISH TV reciever and dish. (not permanently mounted. This coach is way to nice to live in. I thought that when I bought it 5 years ago and I still think that after it being used as a home for the last 5 years. I love this Coach, but the time has come to let it retire and become someones baby. $3000.00 or trade for a 16 ft. Stock/Horse trailer or a 3 horse bumper pull trailer. Age isnt so much an issue as is condition. Cash talks. Email Pictures by request.
