Subject: [SilverStreak] Closet door latches

  Hello All,

Does anyone know of where the original style closet door latches for 1974 SS
might be found?
I have checked at the local dealers and none are to be found from their
resources. I am in need of 3 of them if the price is not too high.

Also if any one has info on the wiring at the tongue for accessories
(excluding the harness for towing), as all of my wiring has been
disconnected.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your help, Bill

Hi Bill,

Are the latches in your '74 of the round and brown with gold trim
variety? The kind that are recessed where you put your fingers into the
latch and pull? The cut-out for the latch is around 2"?

Have you thought about hooking up a battery and connect its ground terminal
to the frame and then, connect the 12 volt positive side THROUGH A 12 VOLT
LIGHT and touch each wire and see what comes on?

 Ros,

The latches are round, white plastic set in brass. They have a hook on the
end that pushes into
a catch that is mounted on the wall. When the latch knob is turned it releases
from the catch.

Yes, the tracing method has been a thought, though too much current through
some circuits could
do some damage. A better method would be to use an ohm meter and open and
close the circuits to
track them. If somebody had some info on which was which it would save some
time.
Also info on how the LPG meters sense the level in the tanks would be great.

 Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill, I've got a 77 owners manual with all the wiring diagrams including
the control panel.
Will that help? I could fax the schematics to you, or scan them and Email
them if you want.
The 77 diagrams may be the same as yours or very close.

Wow Carl,

That would be great, at least it would be something to start with even if it
isn't quite the same.
I would think it would be pretty close any way. Scan and email would be the
best way for me as
I am on the road.
I certainly appreciate your kindness and help.

Hi Bill,

That is why I suggested the 12 volt light in series with whatever circuit
you are trying to activate/trace. The bulb acts as a current limiter.

Sorry but I can't help you with the latches. Ours are different.

The lpg sensors are potentiometers if I recall correctly. We have two, 40
lb. tanks and changed the valves to the new units and removed the old sensors.
