Hello and thanks for your thoughts. The belly pan is already open under the
rear area where i might fit a combination grey/black holding tank but am not
sure how it would fit nor the manner that it would be hung. The shower
drain could come down to the trap and then into the end of a tank with the rest
of the connections tying to the side of the toilet drain (as it was with the
metal piping) which, i guess, could then drop right into the top of the tank.
However i'm not sure how to control the odors that might then come directly
up into the toilet when flushing. any thought would be appreciated. thank
you, jim -)

As in most RV's the toilet will flush directly into the black water tank.
The seal is made by the slide valve and in my case, I always leave a couple
of inches of water in the bowl. It does allow some odor to come up through
the toilet, but just for the second when flushing and is normally not a
problem.
The shower and sink really need a p-joint to keep the odors from coming
out. You should already have a roof vent but I am not sure if it would vent
the new holding tank. The holding tanks are held up by metal channel that is
placed across the frame members, usually one on each end and one in the
middle. This is not an easy upgrade and it really takes two people. A
transmission jack or something similar is helpful to hold the new tank in
place while working on it. I have replaced old tanks but have never started
from scratch with a new one.

Hi Jim, thanks for the encouragement. i bought this trailer about a year
ago - it was totally painted white on the outside so i spent the first seven
months taking the paint off. then started taking everything out from the
inside, exchanging the hydrolic (sp) brake axle for one with electric brakes,
tracing the entire 110v and 12v system and adding a new breaker box and pulled a
dedicated 110v/20amp line for the front roof opening for a scheduled new air
conditioner. i've now reframed both front benches, build a fold down table
that will make into a bed, framed both mid benches and added swing out pieces
so they also will each make into beds. will be adding a 42 gallon fresh
water tank with on demand pump and have added a hot h2o heater through the
outside skin. o' i'm also about 90% done with stripping all the green paint since
it was peeling so bad - the rear pink is in good shape and will leave it as
is. and will probably leave the rest of the interior unpainted.

but back to your comments. i really appreciate words from others that have
"BEEN THERE". This thing is low to the ground but i'll take a look-see and
measure what it would take to add any kind of a holding tank. can they be
ordered to fit? thanks very much again, jim -)
