Jim,
My strong advice would be to direct your question to the msn group
"VintageVacationsantiquetraveltrailertalk@xxxxxxxxxx.msn.com. There are many
people there who would be glad to help you on any restoration questions. They
are all very involved in restoration. Many have built their trailers from the
ground up. Good luck.
Regards,
Chris

Subject: [SilverStreak] A Silver Streak plumbing question

  Hello all,

As a means of reintroduction, i bought a 1958 Silver Streeak Clipper
earlier
this year. It had been painted white on the outside, which is now removed
and it is partially polished - turning out ok i think. I've rechromed the
outside light rings and have the entire 12v lighting system outside
working.
Several inside 12v lights still need my attention... The 110v system
junction
box is replaced with a new breaker box and i've snaked a dedicated line to
the front top vent for an air conditioner. The middle vent is original and
the
back vent was replaced with a new metal cover and fan unit. all inside
110v
outlets are working to include the kitchen fan, etc. I had to entirely
strip the front inside paint due to age, etc. but will try and salvage the
back
pink bath area. The rear axle has been replaced with one with electric
brakes
for safety. I will completely rebuild the inside front benches and table,
the kitchen cabinet area for new stove and new sink. Also i'm redesigning
the
two side seats so that they will fold out into a double bed with walking
room. I'm adding a new hot water heater along with a h2o pressure pump, a
new
40 gallon holding tank under a middle seat, and all new h2o lines. also
replacing the floor with new tile as i go. O' i also redid the gas heater
valve
system with one the has a therostat and will add a gas/110v volt
refrigerator.

Now to my current problem: the cast iron sewage system is broke in several
placed so the best answer is to replace the whole system with new plastic.
easier in the long run, i think. Does anyone have any experience with
removing the old cast iron pipes from an old metal trailer. any "lessons
learned"
  would sure be of help..

Also i live near San Diego and would be interested in connecting with other
old metal trailer owners in the area.

  best regards always, jim -)

Hi Mel, Karen, and all,

Steve in Colorado here... not sure what's up with the email... try
thesl8s@xxxxxxxxxx.com and see if that goes through. My spam filter is
turned off, so I dunno! Anyway - thanks for letting me know it's not
happening. If it keeps happening I'll have to do something different!

While I'm here... new restoration pictures are on my website at:
http://www.thesl8s.com/silverstreak/floorandpaint.htm. Just had the
inside painted and I installed the new floor. Now on to bigger and
better things... like putting her back together! I can't wait!!!

Thanks for letting me know-

Steve
