Description
Vehicle Description

This is a 1975 Silver Streak Royal 29 foot Class A motor home on a Dodge M500 chassis with a 440W V-8 and 727 auto tranny. It has less than 28,500 original miles on it and it purrs like a big kitten. Silver Streak is known to have produced something like 12 of these Class A’s and this is probably the lowest mile model in existence.

What I know about this rig is that I bought it off ebay last June out of Arizona, where it had been sitting in storage for years. Just to bring it back to SoCal I had it tuned, all fluids replaced, tank drained and refilled, new plugs, wires, rotor and cap, two new tires up front and a new spare. The rear tires are in good shape with low miles but may be about three years old. Once I got it back to Simi Valley, CA, where it now resides, I had the motor mounts replaced, new hoses, new water pump, new thermostat, new belts, commercial sized radiator rebuilt, new exhaust/tail pipes, new chrome oil filler cap(!), new Dometec 2820 refrigerator, new Thetford toilet, new city water one way valve, water tanks and lines flushed, new black and gray water valves installed.

The basic plan was to get this ready for Burningman and it did that just fine. It ran smoothly from Los Angeles to Burningman and back last summer and got between 8 and 10 mpg. As it sits it is ready to take off again if its new owner desired. It runs real strong, just check all fluid levels at each fuel stop because it does use some oil, perhaps due to age. It does not smoke or drip oil excessively.

You need to know that this is a 33 year old motor home in near original condition with recent maintenance. It is not "restored" and it will require constant tinkering. The awning is torn and needs to be replaced. It has minor body damage at the left rear corner behind the bumper. The front driver seat needs to be recovered or, it I were to keep it, replaced with new captains chairs. The generator has been tuned up but it will not pull enough amps to run the A/C. I have included a Generac 4K gas portable which ran great (but a bit loud) all through Burningman running the A/C during the heat of the day, keeping the coach nice and chilled. The exterior lights work and the headlights were replaced last summer, although the turn signals just went out on me.

All in all this is a fine old near original Silver Streak. It tends to be accepted by the Airstream crowd as "vintage kin," and by the bus crowd as a cute little brother. Every where you park it, people will want to come up and start a conversation. It is a lot of fun, super well built, low mile ticket to fun that has lots of life left in it.

It is for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction early. It may be looked at in Simi Valley, CA. $500 deposit within 48 hours after auction closes, balance within 7 days. It must be picked up within 7 days of close of auction. Payment in cash or by bank wire transfer.

Good luck bidding!
