Re: [SilverStreak] Elusive numbers

Carolyn,
It seems most states are like CA. Records are not accessible under the guise
of protection of people such as celebrities like in Hollyweird. Such are our
times. So too it seems are state and fed financial records. It literally
takes an act of Congress now, to get the simplest records. Sort of like
working my lineage, your are correct in that much of the information
pre-dates the computer age, and what was once there has now gotten too old
and is either archived or purged.

I find it odd however, how much money rules. When I titled my 66 Streamline
motor coach after 30 years dormant, I can't access my own title record
without forms and fee, but soon began receiving promotions from several RV
dealers able to reference me, what I own, and come buy a new one. I get
yearly promotional junk mailings. Obviously they can subscribe and buy a
complete list. Same thing for my diesel truck.

So it is back to us to compile a registry that preserves the data and
associates that information with models and year.
