Al, Is not the weight of the door but the section of body not present. That affords movement on any structure and is always a weak point constantly in need to somehow be bridged and hopefully made strong. The entire coach flexes, is not and cannot be made ridged. Even a bridge moves. Does not matter left or right, door light or heavy. The opening moves, thus the problem. So doors are hung on what is hoped to be the strongest of what is inherently going to be weak because structure is simply not there. The vertical casing structures on each side simply have independent movement. That is going to wear hinges, dead bolts, latch pins, the door, and the structure on each side. The only way to eliminate all movement is not to move the trailer. That would defeat the intended useful purpose. The same problems exist on your car, truck, or anything in movement with a door or window. Just the way it is with everything. Door, latches, bolts, and windows will always be a maintenance of some level on everything. -Eddie- Houston, TX
