Ken, It's a chemical mix substitute. I read it on all of them but forget now. I can send a link or copy it from the spec sheet of one of mine of you want. The change let the mfg make the sealed system lighter as the risk diminished. That turned into a nightmare for Dometic as the savings bit them hard when the too-thin sealed systems began to crack. Thus all the recalls. The Norcold recalls were not associated with sealed system failure in all the recalls I read at the time. All the Dometic recalls were cracks on the ones I was able to read before I fell asleep reading. I have experienced two old Dometics deliberately compromised. One was by a drunk with a gun at a dump site. The other by the same drunk who decided he would save the liquid ammonia for his greasy rag washing, so he tried to let that out. Ruined his beer. You will never forget the difference between Bo-Peep ammonia in a bottle and concentrated industrial ammonia in a fridge. Big difference! It dropped birds in flight! It killed everything green in about an acre diameter. Disposal of an old RV fridge is a serious problem but can sure cure a copper thief if he finds one on the side of the road. I call that bait and justice. -Eddie- Houston, TX ----- Original Message ----- > is alink to how they are repaired. > http://www.rvicebox.com/RebuildingProcess.htm > Eddie, if they are not using > ammonia, what are they using now???? > > Ken Wilson > KE5DFR@sbcglobal.net > Cypress, Texas
