Multiple leaf springs are themselves dampers (what "shock absorbers" really are). As the spring leaves flex, they slide against one another. The friction functions to dampen oscillations. Long ago, cars and trucks used lever type adjustable friction shocks. Rubber axles also act as dampers due to the internal molecular friction within the rubber rods. Lack of telescopic shocks is not as much of a detriment to a travel trailer as to a car or truck. If it was not so, why then do the lower grade SSs not have shocks? Shocks do improve tire adhesion by keeping the tread in contact with the road surface. Al
