Thanks for the question.  i understand that the steel wool fibers will  get 
imbedded into the aluminum and then thru electrolysis wil start to turn  black, 
leaving many little black spots in the aluminum finish.  i did use  steel 
wool for light paint removal but since have vigorously rewolled using  aluminum 
wool and so far can't see any harm that i did.  i have a source  for aluminum 
wool if anyone is interested.  jim  -)
