As in most RV's the toilet will flush directly into the black water tank. The seal is made by the slide valve and in my case, I always leave a couple of inches of water in the bowl. It does allow some odor to come up through the toilet, but just for the second when flushing and is normally not a problem. The shower and sink really need a p-joint to keep the odors from coming out. You should already have a roof vent but I am not sure if it would vent the new holding tank. The holding tanks are held up by metal channel that is placed across the frame members, usually one on each end and one in the middle. This is not an easy upgrade and it really takes two people. A transmission jack or something similar is helpful to hold the new tank in place while working on it. I have replaced old tanks but have never started from scratch with a new one.
