Best thing would be to use a test light to see if that battery-charge line is hot. It may or may not be, depending (it really shouldn't be, but.....). If it's not, you could probably get at the clearance light circuit through the trailer somehow, remembering that the clearance, tail, and license plate lights are all tied together. You should then be able to switch the +12 from the battery to that circuit and light up all your lamps. It'd be a good idea to use a fuse in the circuit.
