On the definition of tongue weight, is this the weight pushing down by the tongue prior to hitching up to the tow vehicle or is this the weight after hitching up to the tow vehicle? This may seem like a silly question. But if the hitch system includes weight equalizing bars used to help maintain the car level would this not relieve some of the weight by the tongue onto the hitch? How would one measure the force of the trailer tongue on to the hitch after the weight equalizer bars are hooked up?

Sincerely,

Pete
