Larry,
Regular oil is fine, but always stay on the "heavy" (viscosity) side of the
manufacturer's recommendations. Naturally, use a name brand, but any of them are
OK. Change it regularly, of course, no more than 3000 miles when towing,
especially in hot weather.

Stay far away from oil additives like Slick 50, STP, or the others. Those don't
help anything and CAN harm your engine. If you know how to use ftp (file transfer
protocol), you can get ADDITIVE.ZIP from toltbbs.com (not ftp.toltbbs.com, just
toltbbs.com). If a lot of people would like to read it, I can probably post it
into a message(s); it's about 30K in size when unZIPd.

My personal preference is for Shell Rotella T; I've run 3 VW Diesels to high
mileage (>200K) on it, but one of those had Sunoco 15W-40 for the first 150,000
miles. I don't think there's any difference between major brands, and I think my
drum now holds another brand.
