I got OPD valves installed on my 2 30-lb aluminum bottles today at a place called Ferrellgas. It was
$16 for each valve including tax and labor, plus $14 plus tax for gas for both bottles. The place
down the road wanted $23 for each valve, so it pays to call around for pricing.

The bottles were made in 1977, and hadn't ever been re-certified. (I guess they don't believe in that
Federal red tape in Utah). They quoted me $5 per bottle to certify, which seems to be the going
rate, although as I look at my bill, I see they didn't charge me for it . This may be because
certification consists mainly of checking the valves to see that they hold up under pressure, and it
would seem that installing new ones would make that unnecessary. I suppose I'll have to call them
to see if that's the case. They did stamp the month and year on the collar, so I'm good for 5 more
years.
