I appreciate all the info on the new OPD valves. It sounds kind of fragile and prone to trouble to me.
On my '72 Sovereign I have the large all aluminum bottles. Do you know if there will be OPD replacement valves for these older, but excellent condition tanks? I"ve had them restamped just this last spring. On my Bambi I purchased two new tanks about four years ago. Will there, in time, be replacements for these standard tanks also? Any idea on the cost involved?
Why can't they keep things simple? I've never had any tank or valve trouble in 25 years of rving.
Thanks,

So some distributors didn't see the need to stock replacement valves. However, they neglected to take into account the number of aluminum tanks out there. In case you weren't aware those are a very expensive item. Current replacments run $300-400 each. It would be much smarter to replace the valve in those than replace them with steel tanks. It appears at this time that valves will eventually be available although limited. In Apr of 2002 you will have to have OPD valves in the aluminum tanks. As for the standard tanks, those are available right now.
