For those of us with old propane tanks that will not be able to be used in the near future, either our old ones must be inspected and converted to the OPD protection device, at $35-45 each, and which are all but impossible to get. OR Get new tanks with the OPD installed, and then we have a tank good for many years.

Check out Manchester Tanks web site at www.mantank.com/3040.htm for their info on 30 and 40# tanks. Your local propane dealer can order from them. Type 1 is for the older hookup and the Acme 1 3/4 for the new hookups. They also have tanks with seperate level guages in them, so one can tell the fill level. Most tanks one would buy off the shelf do not have the gauge, as it is a little extra. The tanks run about $100 MCP
