Peter and all,

I bought a 6" convex mirror and mounted it on a 1/2" piece of EMT electrical tubing, flattened out the ends and mounted it on the electric hitch using a clamp-like system that I made at work. I aim it down at the hitching area being careful to keep it high enough to see out the rearview mirror.

I stuck an flourescent orange dot on the hitch so I can see it real good. I don't have any trouble backing under the hitch by myself. The only worrysome times are when it is dark and when the ground might be uneven and the ball could be to high.

I keep the ball clean and grease it each time I hitch up, I use it as an identifying mark on the ball. I use a yellowish grease used on die and mold guides which is pretty course.
