Exact same year as mine! I have 250,000 miles on mine and still get 26mpg with 4 wheel drive! Have you towed much with yours? They are known for cooling problems. I replaced the stock 3 row radiator with the larger 4 row high flow unit. It still gets warm if I push it with a load. I plan to go
with the new for '98 high flow water pump and dual thermostat crossover pipe and housing. If you look at tech articles you'll see that heat really kills these things. The new setup cures the cracking that tends to occur in the narrow area between the valves. The turbo really helps it stay cooler too!
Strange, huh? I have lots of technical articles on this engine if you ever need any info.
