Here in Michigan there is NO personal property tax on motor vehicles, trailers, or boats. The annual license fee on my '97 Expedition is $140...my Airstream is $35. There is a one-time state sales tax of 6% on vehicle purchases. There is a state income tax (can't remember the exact percentage...around 3.5% I think), but it is in the process of being lowered over the next 5 years.
