My advice is based extensive reading I've done on this subject.

In a nutshell it will depend on if you are retired or still working. Some states do not tax retirement income. Remember, you don't have to live in whatever state you pick to be your home state. Just establish a permanent address. That will have to be where your driver's license comes from. You'll also have to register your Vehicles and trailers there.

The two best over all appear to be South Dakota and Texas.

Many folks drive up to South Dakota and get an address at Mail Boxes ETC then go get their licenses and registration and then take off to wherever it is they really want to live.

Texas can do the same thing for you but some restrictions vary county to county.

Escapees have a Park in Livingston,TX and many use that as their permanent address and seem to like that arraignment a lot.

If you're more of a work camper type you'd do well to talk to Byron, our resident non-resident, for all the in's and outs of working in multiple states every year.
