Jim, no one has made a better A/C than Armstrong. The compressor is replaceable with an aftermarket generic. The only time one of them quit was due to a diddly little capacitor (or something! ). With great regret I had to replace one this past summer because the single motor which operated both fans lost its grease packing, ran dry and froze up. The cost to replace was too much and getting a replacement quickly was remote. That one was 19 years old.

Armstrong was bought out about 1977 by Gibson and the RV model was discontinued (so I have been told). Those that were on hand, and apparently Airsream had many, continued to be installed which is how I had one on my 80 model (made in 79). It had an output of 13,500 BTU.

From this history, let me suggest that you remove the shroud and be sure there is not a lot of grease on the pan beneath the shaft at one side of the motor, and that the motor/fan turns freely.
