There is also another possible solution to E mail on the road.
There are several web based e mail systems that can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection, Hot mail and Amexmail to name 2. These can be set up to collect the mail from your regular E mail account if it is a POP server type. Don't think it works with AOL.
My first try with this was with Amex mail. It worked great while I was
in Boise at the rally. Just rented a couple bucks worth of time at the
student union or a cyber cafe. Later this collecting service developed
a glitch and while it did pick up my mail it never delivered. After it
ate a quantity of
mail I gave up on them but it may be fixed now.
Hotmail also can be set up to collect from your regular server on demand.
I have played with this and it seems to work. The advantage is that you
can access from anywhere there is a web connected computer so you don't
need to carry your own. I have recently noticed that some truck stops
have booths with web access at a cost of $.25 a minute. Haven't tried them
yet. Other places are libraries
colleges etc and possibly some of the office supply places.
